Maria Fernanda Rollo was born on the 16 June 1965 in the Republic of Congo. PhD and Aggregation in Contemporary History by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FCSH) of the New University of Lisbon. Associated Professor with aggregation in the Department of History. Researcher and former President of the Contemporary History Institute of FCSH, was coordinator of the Pedro Hispano programme – Doctoral Studies in Social and Human Sciences in the same Faculty. Member of the Advisory Committee of the Gulbenkian Programme of Portuguese Language and Culture of the Foundation Calouste Gulbenkian. Coordinated several research projects and has many texts published in diverse research areas of the history of Portugal in the XX Century, contemporary history of economy and society and history of innovation and science organization in Portugal. Since November 2015, Secretary of State for Science, Technology and Higher Education of the Portuguese Republic.
